Quidditch or No Quidditch?

Remember that Yiddish quote I wrote about last time:"Man plans, G-d laughs?" It is true once again. Last month's gaga and havdallah event went great! The kids had a blast and there was glitter glue everywhere- from my girl scout days I remember this as a tell true sign of a good time. I am so thankful for disposable tablecloths for easy cleanup. I know these next few months will go smoothly as well.  (man plans) I met with my boss and we discussed every event for the year and the supplies needed for each event. We discussed when t-shirts would be needed for both groups. We had quidditch, minute to win it, community service, etc. Everything was set and it worked out nicely.  (G-d laughs) Everything worked nicely... until that night. We are participating in a community quidditch tournament with local synagogues. There are about 6 youth groups participating in the area. We had thought the event was in November. That night, we got an email that the date changed to December. All this happened right as my boss was getting ready to go out of town for a convention.  Shortly after I saw the email, I replanned all events in one night. I spent hours making flyers, crafting write-ups, compiling supply lists, and designing t-shirts. I think the t-shirts came out great especially since I worked tie dye into the calendar. I think the kids will have a great time tie dying their new shirts and showing them off at the quidditch game.

To some, this date change might have been a nightmare. Honestly, I loved it. I think that is so powerful to say. I didn't find this stressful or a nightmare. I saw it as an opportunity to show my company and boss that I can turn what seems like a negative into a positive. I love my job so much that I enjoyed the replanning.  Overall, I actually like the new schedule better. Quidditch is still on even though we had to change a lot of things around for it. The kids did quidditch last year before I was the advisor for Jr. Kadima. I am a little nervous for this event because I have seen Harry Potter once and never read the books. I really have no idea how to play quidditch. I guess I better read up on the rules and maybe watch the movie before the now December event.
